About Me.
Welcome! I’m Michelle Dixon, founder of Lighter Steps Coaching. I am a certified nurse coach, grief coach, and intuitive guide.
I live in Maine, where I enjoy living among trees and wildlife. I am a Mom of two artistic and vibrant young adults. I am an animal lover and enjoy the property's horses, chickens, cats, and dogs. I love being outside, learning about plants in the wild, traveling, dancing, and listening to live music.
I have worked as a nurse for 30 years, primarily in oncology, homecare, and Hospice. The most valuable part of all those experiences as a nurse was being in the presence of another human and holding that sacred space as their story unfolded, whether that was the beginning of a life or the end. I have been fortunate to have met and loved so many people who shared the stories of their lives.
I spent decades in survival mode working as a single Mom, doing my best, but over the years, I felt the burden of years of stress and fatigue. In 2020, my family went through a cascade of events and losses that took me in a new direction.
I moved to a rural area of Maine and started meditating and seeking answers within, leaning into the peace and grounding that nature provides. I have learned through my journey with grief that healing is like an onion. We encounter many changes and losses- our loved ones, a job, our health, or the health of someone we love, our homes. Even our expectations of how we thought our lives would be. As one layer heals, another one is revealed. What comes to the surface? What can be released?
I work with women to heal from grief and move forward with a new sense of peace and purpose. When we experience a shift in our thinking and being, we heal ourselves and the world. You are worth it.
